Lauterbach Expands TRACE32® to Support Synopsys VDK for Infineon AURIX™ TC4x Microcontroller Family

Lauterbach today announces the addition of TRACE32 debug support for the Synopsys Virtualizer™ Development Kit (VDK) for the Infineon 32-bit TriCore™ AURIX™ TC4x Microcontroller Family. The Synopsys VDK allows early pre-silicon software development for the TC4x target.

TRACE32 offers complete debug and trace support for the TriCore cores as well as the DesignWare® ARC EV based Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) via the well-defined multi-core debug (MCD) interface. The PPU is integrated into the TC4x TriCore to foster the implementation of artificial intelligence and neural networks in automotive designs.

“Using Synopsys VDK for Infineon AURIX TC4x, automotive tier 1 and OEM companies can establish digital twins of their electronic control units, enabling their system development to shift left and ultimately accelerate time to market,” said Tom De Schutter, vice president of engineering at Synopsys. “Our longstanding collaboration with Lauterbach ensures that software developers have a comprehensive solution, starting from pre-silicon all the way to post-system deployment.”

In addition, the TRACE32 Instruction Set Simulator allows for the debug and trace of the simulated cores´ behavior. Lauterbach is also working on the debug and trace support of the silicon chip, which will be available as soon as the chip is released, providing support for all standard debug and trace tools.

“We are very pleased about our longstanding collaboration with Infineon and Synopsys, that has lasted for more than a decade. It allows us to provide early support for the TC4x Microcontroller Family and Synopsys VDK. The complete debug and trace support of the Synopsys VDK for the Infineon TC4x gives our customers the ability to develop code for the chip without having the actual physical target. This advantage can lead to a significant reduction in time-to-market during development,” said Norbert Weiss, General Manager of Lauterbach GmbH.

As Ralf Koedel, Senior Director of Product Marketing/Microcontroller Manager at Infineon Technologies AG, explains, “Our newest AURIX™ TC4x microcontroller family will give customers access to unparalleled real-time safety and security performance. Adding the possibility to start early pre-silicon software development with complete debug and trace toolset support is a game changer, as time-to-market has a huge impact on our customers product success. We are enthusiastic with our interactions with Lauterbach and Synopsys, and we are confident that this cooperation will positively impact our customers timeline and costs, allowing them to move to the hardware development with a much more mature solution. This cooperation helps to highlight AURIX™ TC4x microcontroller capabilities to optimize our customer’s system performance and to quickly and cost-effectively qualify their systems to an ADIL D safety concept.”

Tools for debug and trace of the Synopsys VDK for TC4x are available immediately. Please contact your local Lauterbach Office for details.
